Enhancing Flood Affected Community’s Resilience By Providing Transitional Shelter

District Kashmore is one of the worst affected districts hit by flood due to monsoon rain fall in September 2012. Flood causes damages on large scale, destroyed shelters, community infra-structure and agriculture. MF in response to flood, distributed food packages and winter kits with the support of WFP & Concern Rapid fund in 3 UC of Kashmore. Flood badly damages the houses in the assessed areas, 52% of the respondents shared their shelters are fully demolished, 30% respondents shared their shelters are partially damages, 16% respondents shared there is minor damages in the shelter and 2% permanent houses were not damage. MOJAZ started a project in UC Gehalpur with an objective to provide transitional shelter support to the most vulnerable flood affected in UC Gahel Pur. Concern and USAID provided the financial support to construct 450 shelters which later on extended to 735 shelters. The project is expected to be complete in September 2013.
